You can search for books directly from the library home page (https://www.vanguard.edu/academics/library). Enter keywords for the topic you would like to research in the VANCAT search box.
In the case below, we entered the keyword marijuana. Note that with that first search 85,500 results were found. These results include ebooks, journal articles, print books, and videos. You can limit your search to print books only by clicking the "Print Book" checkbox (see the green arrow below).
Notice that the number of results was significantly lowered (to only 55 results). The location for the print book is shown in the results. Notice the shelf location given Vanguard University Main Library Main Stacks, First Floor RM 666 C266 G45 2010 (see green box). That location and number gives you the unique shelf location for that particular print book.
Instead of limiting your search results to physical books (by selecting "Print Book" as in the above example), you can also select other formats. For instance, if you select "Full Text" under "Content Type" (see green arrow) you will be shown only results that are available electronically—whether ebooks or electronic journal articles. You can narrow those results by selecting either "eBook" or "Downloadable Article."
The library catalog (VANCAT) only scratches the surface of all the content available to you as a Vanguard University student!
The library also provides access to dozens of online databases covering specific subjects. The main library page contains a link to all library databases as well as links to databases by subject and an A-Z alphabetic list of databases.
