Linking: JSTOR

Guide on how to access full-text articles from off campus with a permanent link.

Finding the link in an email

If you emailed yourself an article in JSTOR by clicking the  Share button, you will simply receive a "stable" or "permanent" link to the article that looks like this:

https://www.jstor.org/stable/10.15699/jbl.1384.2019.11?typeAccessWorkflow=login?typeAccessWorkflow=login

Note that the URL has the word "stable" in it.

If you are off-campus, this link will NOT take you to the article. However, you can add the library proxy prefix to the beginning of the stable URL. The resultant link should look like this:

https://vanguard.idm.oclc.org/login?url=https://www.jstor.org/stable/10.15699/jbl.1384.2019.11?typeAccessWorkflow=login?typeAccessWorkflow=login

Be sure to remove any spaces between the prefix and the stable URL.

Finding the link in the article record

You can also find the stable URL in the article record.

In the search results, click on the article title. A few lines underneath the title, you will see the JSTOR stable URL immediately followed by a copy icon  (see green box below). Click the JSTOR stable URL with the icon  to copy the stable URL.

NOTE: Some articles have both a DOI (a URL starting with https://doi...) and a JSTOR stable URL. To share the JSTOR article, it is important that you copy the JSTOR stable URL and not the DOI.

If you are off-campus, this link will NOT take you to the article. However, you can add the library proxy prefix to the beginning of the stable URL. The resultant link should look like this:

https://vanguard.idm.oclc.org/login?url=https://www.jstor.org/stable/10.15699/jbl.1384.2019.11

Be sure to remove any spaces between the prefix and the stable URL.

Remember! Do not copy and paste the URL from your browser's address bar!
