Article Linking: Article links

Guide on how to access full-text articles from off campus with a permanent link.

Linking

Do you have the article URL but you can't access it from off campus?

You first need to check if the library pre-proxy is at the beginning of the link: https://vanguard.idm.oclc.org/login?url= . If not, you need to do the following:

1. Make sure the URL is the document link (sometimes it's called stable URL, permalink, or persistent link). Do not copy and use the link in the URL address box. Most databases provide document links back to the article. (Click on one of the above database tabs to figure out how to get the document link.)

2. In order to access the article via a document link, you need to have a URL that consists of the Library pre-proxy URL + the document URL. The Library pre-proxy URL provides off-campus access to e-resources for Vanguard University faculty, staff, and students. It will prompt you for your Vanguard username and password. Once logged in to the system, you will have access to all the e-resources. The following is the pre-proxy URL:

https://vanguard.idm.oclc.org/login?url=

You just need to add the document link to the above URL. The full URL should look like this:

https://vanguard.idm.oclc.org/login?url=http://search.proquest.com/docview/1537286700?accountid=25359

Click on the appropriate tab above for tips on how to find the document link.
