DOAJ is a community-curated online directory that indexes and provides access to high quality, open access, peer-reviewed journals. DOAJ is independent. All funding is via donations, 40% of which comes from sponsors and 60% from members and publisher members. All DOAJ services are free of charge including being indexed in DOAJ. All data is freely available.

ROAD provides free access to the Open Access subset of the ISSN Register, comprised of bibliographic records of journals, monographic series, conference proceedings and academic repositories.

OpenDOAR is the quality-assured global directory of academic open access repositories. It enables the identification, browsing and search for repositories, based on a range of features, such as location, software or type of material held. Tools and support enable both repository administrators and service providers to share best practice and improve the quality of the repository infrastructure.

OpenStax publishes "high-quality, peer-reviewed, openly licensed college textbooks that are absolutely free online and low cost in print."
